How WELS works

WELS
Exchange Hub

The WELS Exchange Hub is a comprehensive data management system designed specifically for early learning systems. The WELS Exchange Hub can be customized to support community-specific implementations of Mixed Delivery through interoperability and data sharing between the early learning stakeholders who interact within early learning systems.

In the Professional Portal module, early learning professionals have the ability to create profiles and manage their own information including demographics, work experience, education, and training, and WELS is able to help verify that data. Here, educators can also access the Professional Development Registry, salary supplement programs, scholarships, and other financial incentives available in their community.

In the Family Portal module, parents and caregivers can search for early learning programs in their area. Here, families can also access, apply for, and manage their participation in different services and programs that are offered in their community.

The Program or Provider Portal module provides childcare providers of all types with a platform to access and manage functions related to their program. This includes managing existing contracts, participation in quality initiatives, staff roster, applications, and more.

The Professional Development Registry tracks trainings that are being engaged with and completed by early care and education professionals. Here, approved trainers can add, advertise, and manage approved training content that they are offering in their community, and educators and providers are able to explore, register for, and manage information on these Professional Development opportunities.
